I love Fall!

Even though it is a bit too warm for my liking, I just have to say how much I love fall. Here's what I love most:
1. The smell and feel of the cool mornings and evenings.

2. Getting to wear sweaters and jackets again (even if I cant zip them up).

3. Leaves starting to turn and fall.

4. The color orange. I don't really like this color the whole rest of the year, but in Sept., Oct. and Nov. it makes me happy every time I see it.

5. Anything with pumpkin or molasses in it.

6. Decorating for Halloween- I decorated yesterday and it just simply made me happy!

7. Knowing that I'm getting closer and closer to having the baby!!!

8. Soup.

9. Stuff on TV that I actually like watching. (Like DWTS and ER)

10. Pumpkin Spice Frappucinos from Starbucks. Really, go treat yourself. They are the best! Make sure you ask for the creme frappucino unless you really want a nice coffee based drink!

Happy Fall time, everybody!

A Fair Day

Last Saturday we went to the Utah State Fair, which has always been a tradition of ours. (With the exception of only one year where it was raining cats and dogs.) There are some things I really like about it, but this year I think there were more things I found I didn't like. Like that my kids are wanting more rides, more treats, more stupid toys that are all a complete waste of money and the parking was horrendous and we still ended up spending $10 just for a parking space. The rides are highly overpriced and are downright disgusting for the most part. I do like the big yellow slide and the "Little Hands on the Farm" exhibit, and of course all the livestock and 4-H exhibits. Maybe being hot and pregnant didn't help much, but I'm not sure that this tradition will continue into next year. The pictures look like we seemed to have a decent time though...even though we spent waaaay more money than the experience was actually worth in my opinion. Sorry, State Fair. Funny in the picture of me that there is another pregnant lady in an orange shirt. But I know I look way cuter, because I have a Hello Kitty bag.

Daniel reeeeeally wanted to ride the roller coaster more than anything. Landon was nice enough to go on the helicopters with Emma since Richard and I weren't willing to squeeze into the cockpit.

What a bunch of cute carrots!
Landon brought a friend along so they could earn their State Fair patch for Scouts.
Big Red- an extremely large faux Bull. Nice and calm and not caring that there were a million kids mauling him. I guess thats what happens when you get castrated.
Oh so cute! She loved petting the baby pigs. Daniel reached down without really looking to pet a big boar (male) pig. Only he was really just petting the male part of the pig. We quickly told him to stop and a few people around us couldn't help but snicker.
This is the Little Hands on the Farm exhibit which is actually very cute and educational.

The "nature" of our conversation

I borrowed a bassinet from a friend the other day. On the way home Emma asked if she could please keep it in her room, please!! I told her that would be fine, but once the baby comes I will need to move it into my room. Here's the rest of the conversation:

"Why does it have to be in your room?"

"So the baby doesn't wake you up at night and so that I can change her and feed her."

"Silly mom, babies can just feed themselves bottles!"

"No, Emma, they can't, not when they are just tiny newborns. And plus, I'm not giving the baby a bottle, I'll just nurse her."

"Whats nursing?"

"Well, you know these (pointing to you know whats)...when a mommy has a baby, her body makes milk and then the baby can drink out of them and get the food it needs!"

"Can't you just set the baby down and open her mouth and squirt it in?"

(laughing)"Not exactly. It works a lot better if the baby just sucks it out like a bottle."

"That's funny mommy."

"It is a little bit funny sounding, Emma, but that's the way Heavenly Father made mommies bodies- so that they can feed babies. And when you are a mommy, you can feed babies too!"

(clearly disturbed) "I don't want to feed babies when I grow up- I want to be a lifeguard!"

Later that day I heard her say this to two friends she was playing with upstairs.
"Hey guys...guess what? My mom says that when our baby comes out, she's gonna hold it up to these ( I can only guess what she was doing) and the baby is going to suck milk out of them!!!!"

Fortunately, her friend said, "yeah, that's how my mom fed our baby too!" End of conversation!
I'm sure we'll have a few more of these conversations when the baby is born and curiosity sets in once more! And maybe someday, after she's a lifeguard, of course, she'll want to feed her babies too!

Landon's Special Day

Our little boy was baptized today. Not so little anymore, though- he looked like a missionary all dressed up in his new suit! It was a beautiful day and the baptism and program all went so nicely. It happened to work out that Landon was the only one from our ward being baptized yesterday, so it was just our family, which made it extra special and personal. Landon had his Grandpas give the opening and closing prayers and his Grandma McAllister gave the talk about baptism and Grandma Judy gave the talk about the Holy Ghost. Richard, Daniel and Emma did the special musical number "The Still Small Voice" and did such a good job. Landon was so sweet to make sure to go personally to each person that came and thank them for coming. It was a great spirit and a great day. We had everyone over to our house afterwards for lunch and got to spend time visiting and playing with family. Landon is such a good boy and he is so obedient. He truly has a special spirit and is very observant to what is going on, what others need and how others are feeling. We just love that boy so much and are so very proud of the kind of boy he is. We are truly blessed to have him in our family! Landon requested a special "Daddy/Son" date, so after the baptism Richard and Landon went horseback riding in Mt. Pleasant. When they got home Landon asked me if he made me feel bad because he didn't spend enough time with me that day. See what I mean? He's a sweetie. I told him I was happy he got to go and ride with Dad and do what he wanted! It was really a great day!

Our Family- handsome husband, darling kids, and me with my "ample bulk"
Grandma Judy and Grandpa Kevin
Grandma and Grandpa McAllister. (The suit didn't last too long.)

Great Grandma and Grandpa Hague
A great ending to a wonderful day!
